It's NOT about the   journey,  it's about the person you become  along the way

My Rebellion Against the Tyranny of the Clock

ree

I confess: I am a recovering productivity addict.

My mornings used to be a frantic sprint, a series of "hacks" and "optimizations" designed to shave seconds off my routine. I’d check emails before my feet hit the floor, gulp down coffee while scanning the news, and be mentally "at work" before I'd even showered. I was running a marathon at a sprinter's pace, every single day, and calling it "efficiency." It was, in reality, a state of chronic, low-grade panic.

Then, in Greece, I witnessed a different philosophy in action. I watched a fisherman take three hours to mend his nets, not wasting time, but engaging in a meditative, focused practice. I waited twenty minutes for a bill in a taverna, not because of poor service, but because the owner didn't want to rush my conversation.

This is the spirit of ‘siga-siga’ (slowly, slowly).

It's not about laziness. It's a conscious rejection of the tyranny of the clock. It's the belief that life is a journey to be savored, not a race to be won. It prioritizes the quality of the moment over the quantity of tasks completed. I'm trying to import this radical act of self-preservation into my life. It’s a rebellion. It’s my antidote to burnout. And it's teaching me that by deliberately slowing down, you don’t actually lose time. You create it.

Ready to reclaim your time from the cult of productivity? Let's start the 'siga-siga' revolution together in the Greece Unboxed Club.
