Richtis Gorge (according to wikipedia) is a state protected gorge in Crete, near Exo Mouliana, Sitia, eastern Crete that starts at the traditional village Exo Mouliana, which is located on the national road between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia and ends at the secluded Richtis beach, just east of the village Kalavros.
The easy hiking trail is about 4 km in length. Rich vegetation (mainly platanus trees, wild berries and local flowers and herbs) and animal life (mainly local species of butterflies, small reptiles, birds and small mammals) can be observed along the way, as well as old stone bridges and water mills before it culminates with the Richtis Waterfall and beach.
You SHOULD VISIT the Richtis Gorge at least once in your lifetime! That's where Alexandros Koskinis can help.
Alexandros is of cretan origin. He was born in the UK and lives in Sitia, Crete. He is an accomplished photographer, and believes that it is his duty, as a member of a younger generation of cretes, to let tourists into the authentic cretan hospitality, landscape, culture and lifestyle.
His guests have the opportunity to discover the most beautiful and off the beaten track hotspots in the Sitia area. They will be trekking to remote beaches of astonishing beauty, places of exquisite natural landscape like the UNESCO protected Sitia geo-park, canyons, traditional villages, and sites of rich archaeological interest.
